JOE IN ITALY
Marcia and I celebrated her 60th birthday by visiting Rome Italy for 3 days before boarding the Grand Princess cruise ship where we sailed for 12 nights from France to Italy, Greece and Turkey and finally ending in Venice where we stayed for 2 nights. Although Rome and Venice were our two favorite places we found it difficult to match the food that we have been used to at Monte Cello's here in the states.  I could not believe that it was difficult to find a plate of pasta with red sauce and although there were tons of pizza places, they don't use much sauce on their pizza and the dough was way too thin for our tastes.  The trip was a once in a lifetime experience for us and gave us a much deeper appreciation for what we do at Monte Cello's and a better understanding of our roots. Marcia's mother's family is from Italy and although we did not have enough time to try to locate family, I'm sure there will be another visit in the future..
